The Lisbon School Department is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Special Education teacher to teach in a non-categorical resource room program to support students with disabilities in achieving academic success and developing the skills necessary for independence. The candidate will provide specialized instruction, collaborate with general education teachers, develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and foster an inclusive environment.

The candidate will:

  • Provide direct instruction and academic support to students with disabilities in a resource room setting
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and accommodations
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student progress and maintain accurate records
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families to support student achievement
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs
  • Support students in developing organization, study, self-advocacy, and transition skills
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district special education regulations
  • Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment
  • Supervise and support Educational Technicians
